Welcome to our own little “tool box” that we’ve created just for site flippers. Just like with anything else, a great website needs a solid foundation to stand on. So we thought that you might find it handy to have a “go to” place that addresses many common needs when you are just starting out. Need an answer to something that you don’t see here? Let us know! NOTE: Some of these links are affiliate links! Click em before you make a purchase! We’d love you even more!
WordPress Themes
- Woo Themes: Another great resource for premium themes. They offer about nine different themes for free. The rest you need to pay for, but they do offer a variety of packages to fit designers needs. We also use Woo Themes frequently.
- Themes2WP: This is another useful resource if you are looking for free WordPress themes. There are thousands of themes. The only downside is that you have to hunt through them; some are really nice and some not so much. But since most are free you can’t complain.
- FlippingAwesome Themes: Wait what? Yes we will be releasing our own line of themes that you can use in your flips! Kick off an email to us letting us know if you’d be interested.
NOTE ABOUT THEMES: Before you go get a theme make sure you can legally use it in your flips!
Hosting
- Host Gator: This is a must for every serious site flipper. For $24.95 a month you can have your own server, which you will be able to host (you need hosting anyway) a ton of sites on. Bonus: When flipping a site you can offer to continue to host the site for the buyer (and save major aggravation of moving it from one server to another) on your server for a monthly fee. Depending on the amount of bandwidth a site uses we currently receive hosting payments from people that host with us ranging from $9.95-$19.95 a month.
Resear Tools
- Google Adwords: This is commonly used to select keywords for your own advertising campaign. However when trying to select a very SEO friendly domain name when creating a site to flip, you can use Google Adwords and plug in your domain name ideas to see how many people are searching for a certain phrase.
- Tags On Flippa Listings: Want to pick a winning topic for your next flip? This free tool shows you what buyers want, how much competition there is and more!
Books
- WordPress For Dummies: A good source to learn the WordPress basics, get familiar with the terminology and so forth. Of course it doesn’t beat having personal access to us through our coaching program!
- The Four Hour Work Week: A must have for any site flipper, or any type of business owner looking to optimize their business the most efficient way.
- I Will Teach You To Be Rich: So site flippers, now that you’re making money, don’t let it burn a hole through your pocket. A simple little guide to make you aware of your spending. It’s not as bad as it sounds!
Outsourcing
- Elance: Let’s face it no matter how good we are, no one excels in absolutely everything and that’s when outsourcing becomes your best friend. Elance is a great place to post job descriptions and hire an expert (usually for a great price) to handle any part of a project; ranging from content creation to advanced programming and everything in between.
- Odesk: Another reliable place to handle your outsourcing needs.
Drop Shipping
- Shipwire: This is what is called a drop shipping service and is a must if you want to optimize a site that is selling products (The Four Hour Work Week is a great resource to learn about the ins and outs of drop shipping). Essentially, they hold the inventory that is offered on a website, when customers place an order on the website, Shipwire handles processing the order and shipping the merchandise directly to the customer, completely automating the process for the website owner. So if you are trying to flip a site that is selling a type of product (i.e. vitamins) it would be a great idea to look into Shipwire to try to automate the process before you try to sell the site…buyers love automation.
